Product Description

Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) is an organic compound used as a component of Pesticide formulations. It is a waxy white solid. It is a Synergist . That is, despite having no pesticidal activity of its own, it enhances the potency of certain pesticides such as carbamates, pyrethrins, pyrethroids, and Rotenone. It is a semisynthetic derivative of safrole.PBO is mainly used in combination with insecticides, such as natural pyrethrins or synthetic pyrethroids. It is approved for pre- and postharvest application to a wide variety of crops and commodities, including grain, fruits and vegetables. It has No Toxicity Against Mammals.

Mode of Action

Piperonyl butoxide can enhance the insecticidal activity of pyrethroids and various insecticides such as pyrethroids, rotenone, and carbamates. It also has synergistic effects on fenitrothion, dichlorvos, chlordane, trichloromethane, atrazine, and can improve the stability of pyrethroid extracts. When using housefly as the control object, the synergistic effect of this product on fenpropathrin is higher than that of octachloropropyl ether; But in terms of knockdown effect on houseflies, cypermethrin cannot be synergized. When used in mosquito repellent incense, there is no synergistic effect on permethrin, and even the efficacy is reduced.
