Why has there been no case of phytotoxicity in natural brassinoids in 10 years?

1. Brassinosteroids are widely present in the plant kingdom

During the course of evolution, plants gradually form endogenous hormone regulatory networks to respond to various environmental stresses. Among them, brassinoids are a type of phytosterols that have the function of promoting cell elongation. They are commonly found in the entire plant kingdom from lower to higher plants, and dozens of brassinoids analogs have been discovered .

2. Natural brassinoids are the best “key” to open the endogenous brassinoids pathway.
Natural brassinoids mainly exist in flowers and seeds, regulating reproductive development, seed maturation, promoting stem elongation and root morphology, and also play a positive role in plant resistance to stress [3, 5]. The first brassinoids whose structure was identified was brassinolide BL (Figure 1-1). However, its natural content is extremely low and industrial extraction cannot be realized. This has resulted in a series of synthetic alternatives. Plants realize hormone sensing and response through the “lock and key” principle, and natural brassinoids are the best “key” to open the door to brassinoids response. They have strong affinity with receptors and are far more effective than various synthetic brassinolides. Exogenous application of natural brassinoids can be quickly sensed and absorbed by plants, effectively supplementing the insufficient synthesis of endogenous brassinoids caused by various factors, allowing cells to respond quickly, with high activity, no rejection, and high safety.

14-Hydroxybrassinosteroid (Figure 2), as a new brassinosteroid analog in rapeseed pollen, can be extracted and refined in batches using environmentally friendly solvents. It is the first natural brassinosteroid to realize the industrialization of green extraction. . 14-Hydroxybrassinosteroid is classified as slightly toxic or low-toxic in the Chinese pesticide toxicity classification. The environmental toxicological rating is low-toxic and easily degradable, and the environmental health risk assessment is low (RQ<1). It is harmful to humans and humans. Environmental and biosafety, it is the only plant-based supplement product in the country that has obtained the national “green food production material certification” and the United States organic input certification.

3. Application practice proves that natural brassinoids can promote high yield and increase income

(1) Promote flower bud differentiation and preserve flowers and fruits
The yield and quality of fruit trees are closely related to the development of flower organs. Spraying natural brassinoids during the flower bud differentiation stage and young fruit stage, or adding a certain amount of natural brassinoids during artificial pollination can significantly increase the quantity and quality of fruit tree blooms and reduce deformed flowers. It can improve pollination efficiency, increase fruit setting rate, and reduce flower and fruit drop, and has been widely used in the planting and production of most fruit trees such as kiwi, citrus, apple, and jujube.

Kiwifruit is a typical dioecious vine. In production practice, artificial pollination must be used to increase pollination and fruit setting rates. When more than 2/3 of the whole tree has bloomed, use natural brassinoids powder mixed with pollen at a ratio of 1/50 for artificial point pollination or natural brassinoids aqueous solution diluted 2500 times for spray pollination, which can significantly increase the fruit setting rate of kiwifruit and promote The content of vitamin C and trace elements in the fruit significantly improves the storage and transportation properties and nutritional value of kiwi fruit. (Figure 3-4)[6]. During the young fruit stage of kiwifruit, the compound agent of natural brassinoids, gibberellin, and auxin can be sprayed again, which can significantly promote the rapid expansion and growth of young fruits, resulting in slender fruit shape and a 20%-30% increase in single fruit weight.

The natural physiological fruit drop of citrus is serious, and the fruit setting rate is usually only 2%-3%. In order to improve the flowering quality and increase the fruit setting rate, natural fruit drop is used before flowering, 2/3 of the flowers have faded, and 5 to 7 days before the second physiological fruit drop. The spraying of brassinoids + gibberellic acid can increase the fruit setting rate of citrus by 20% (Guangxi Sugar Orange). Young fruits and fruit stems turn green three days in advance, and the rate of deformed fruits is low.
(2) Change color, increase sugar, and improve fruit quality
The childhood taste of fruit represents the high sugar-acid ratio in the mature stage and the richness of vitamins and trace elements. In the early stages of fruit color change, continuous use of natural brassinoids + high-potassium foliar fertilizer sprayed 2-3 times throughout the tree can accelerate nutrient absorption and transformation, enhance photosynthesis, promote sugar accumulation, and promote organic acids such as citric acid and malic acid. The quasi-degradation is converted into vitamins, flavonoids and other nutrients, increasing the sugar-acid ratio and accumulation of flavor substances. It also has the effect of promoting delicate peel and correcting the fruit shape.

(3) Soaking and dressing seeds of field crops to enhance resistance and promote increased production and income.
The quality and yield of food crops are closely related to environmental conditions. Natural brassinoids have significant effects in resisting stresses such as high temperature, drought, freezing damage, and salinity during the entire growth period of food crops. First of all, seed dressing, coating and other treatments before sowing can improve the uniformity of crop emergence and strengthen seedlings (Figure 9). Secondly, spraying natural brassinoids 1-2 times during important crop development periods such as breaching, flowering, and grain filling can resist various adversity stresses and increase food crop yields. Natural brassinoids have been promoted nationwide for regulating wheat growth and increasing yields, involving 11 test sites in major wheat-producing areas such as Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Jiangsu, with an average yield increase of 13.28%, of which Shanxi’s yield increase reached 22.36%.
(4) Enhance nutrient absorption and promote vegetable production
Use 0.0075% natural brassinosteroid aqueous solution diluted 2500 times and sprayed on the upper leaves of vegetables 1-2 times to enhance the efficiency of crop absorption and utilization of nutrients, enhance photosynthesis, and promote vegetable production. Indoor test results showed that 6 days after leaf spraying, the leaf area of pakchoi in the natural brassinosteroid treatment group increased by 20% compared with the clear water control.

(5) Effective in preventing cold and freezing

“Late spring cold” is a common spring adverse stress, which directly affects crop yields. Spray 8-15ml of natural brassinoids + new potassium dihydrogen phosphate/amino acid foliar nutrition 2-4 days before, 3 days after, and 10-15 days after cold damage or freezing damage to enhance the resistance of crops to cold damage or freezing damage. Frozen crops quickly resume growth. The late spring cold will damage more than 60% of cherry calyces. Natural brassinoids + high potassium foliar fertilizer treatment can significantly reduce the damage rate by 40% and ensure normal pollination.

Under freezing conditions, the photosynthetic system of crops is damaged and photosynthesis cannot be completed normally, seriously affecting crop growth. 2-3 days before tomato seedlings suffer from freezing stress, spray the whole plant with 2000-fold dilution of natural brassinosterol + amino acid foliar nutrition to activate peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities. Remove excess stress oxygen free radicals in tomatoes to protect the photosynthetic system of tomato seedlings under freezing stress and promote rapid recovery after stress.

(6) Compound weeding, enhanced efficiency and safer

Natural brassinoids can quickly mobilize the basal metabolic level of plants. On the one hand, when used in combination with herbicides, it can promote the absorption and transport of drugs by weeds and enhance the herbicide effect; on the other hand, when various pesticides appear to be harmful, natural brassicas should be reapplied in a timely manner The hormone can activate the crop detoxification mechanism, accelerate the detoxification metabolism of pesticides in the body, and promote crop recovery.
