Turkish media report that two Dutch teenagers found dead in an Istanbul hotel room last August died from phosphine, an insecticide, and not from food poisoning, as previously believed.
The brothers, aged 15 and 17, were staying at the hotel with their father. When the family didn’t check out, hotel staff entered their room and discovered their bodies. Their father was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but has since recovered.
A new cause of death was established based on toxicology reports obtained during the examination of two brothers. This report was released during the trial of six hotel employees and pest control workers accused of causing the death of a family of four (from Germany).
Turkish media reports that five people have been arrested in connection with the death of the Dutch brothers, including hotel employees and the head of a pest control company hired by the hotel.
