Gibberellin is a plant hormone that exists widely in the plant kingdom and is involved in many biological processes such as plant growth and development. Gibberellins are named A1 (GA1) to A126 (GA126) according to the order of discovery. It has the functions of promoting seed germination and plant growth, early flowering and fruiting, etc., and is widely used in various food crops.

1. Physiological function
Gibberellin is a highly potent and general plant growth promoting substance. Can promote plant cell elongation, stem elongation, leaf expansion, accelerate growth and development, make crops mature earlier, and increase yield or improve quality; can break dormancy, promote germination; Seed fruit; can also change the sex and ratio of some plants, and cause some biennial plants to flower in the current year.

2. Application of gibberellin in production
(1) Promote growth, early maturity and increase yield
Treatment of many leafy green vegetables with gibberellin can accelerate growth and increase yield. Celery is sprayed with 30~50mg/kg liquid about half a month after harvest, the yield is increased by more than 25%, the stems and leaves are hypertrophic, and the market is 5~6d in the morning.

(2) Break dormancy and promote germination
In strawberry greenhouse assisted cultivation and semi-facilitative cultivation, after covering and keeping warm for 3 days, that is, when more than 30% of flower buds appear, spray 5 mL of 5~10 mg/kg gibberellin solution per plant, focusing on the heart leaves, which can make the top inflorescence bloom ahead of time. , to promote growth and early maturity.
(3) Promote fruit growth
Melon vegetables should be sprayed with 2~3mg/kg of liquid on young fruits once at the young melon stage, which can promote the growth of young melons, but do not spray leaves to avoid an increase in the number of male flowers.
(4) Extend the storage period
Spraying the fruits of melons with 2.5~3.5mg/kg liquid before harvest can prolong the storage time. Spraying the fruit with 50~60mg/kg liquid before the banana is harvested has a certain effect on prolonging the fruit storage period. Jujube, longan and other gibberellins can also delay aging and prolong storage period.
(5) Change the ratio of male and female flowers to increase seed yield
Using the female cucumber line for seed production, spraying 50-100 mg/kg of liquid when the seedlings have 2-6 true leaves can turn the female cucumber into a hermaphrodite, complete pollination, and increase seed yield.
(6) Promote stem extraction and flowering, improve the breeding coefficient of elite varieties
Gibberellin can induce early flowering of long-day vegetables. Spraying plants or dripping growth points with 50~500mg/kg of gibberellin can make carrots, cabbage, radishes, celery, Chinese cabbage and other 2a-growing sunshine crops. Bolting under short-day conditions.
(7) Relieve the phytotoxicity caused by other hormones
After vegetable overdose was injured, treatment with 2.5-5 mg/kg solution could relieve the phytotoxicity of paclobutrazol and chlormethalin; treatment with 2 mg/kg solution could relieve the phytotoxicity of ethylene. Tomato is harmful due to excessive use of anti-falling element, which can be relieved by 20mg/kg gibberellin.

3. Matters needing attention
Note in practical application:

2️⃣Coordinated with external conditions, due to light, temperature, humidity, soil factors, as well as agronomic measures such as variety, fertilization, density, etc., the drug will have varying degrees of influence. The application of growth regulators should be combined with conventional agronomic measures;
3️⃣Do not abuse plant growth regulators. Each plant growth regulator has its biological principle of action, and each drug has certain limitations. Do not think that no matter what kind of drug is used, it will increase production and increase efficiency;
4️⃣Do not mix with alkaline substances, gibberellin is easy to neutralize and fail in the presence of alkali. But it can be mixed with acidic and neutral fertilizers and pesticides, and mixed with urea to increase yield better;
