Pinoxaden: The Leader in Grain Field Herbicide

唑啉草酯 English generic name is Pinoxaden; chemical name is 8-(2,6-diethyl-4-methylphenyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-7-oxo-7H- Pyrazolo[1,2-d][1,4,5]oxadiazepine-9-yl 2,2-dimethylpropionate; Molecular formula: C23H32N2O4; Relative molecular mass: 400.5; CAS login No.: [243973-20-8]; the structural formula is shown in Figure . It is a post-emergence and selective herbicide developed by Syngenta. It was launched in 2006 and its sales in 2007 exceeded US$100 million.

Mechanism of action

Pinoxaden belongs to the new phenylpyrazoline class of herbicides and is an acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) inhibitor. Its mechanism of action is mainly to block fatty acid synthesis, which in turn leads to blockage of cell growth and division, and the death of weed plants, with systemic conductivity. The product is mainly used as a post-emergence herbicide in cereal fields for controlling grass weeds.

Application

 Pinoxaden is a selective, systemic-conductive grass weed herbicide, highly efficient, broad-spectrum, and rapidly absorbed through stems and leaves. Post-emergence control of annual gramineous weeds in wheat and barley fields, such as sagebrush, Japanese sagebrush, wild oats, ryegrass, thorngrass, foxtail, hard grass, serratia and thorngrass, etc. It also has excellent control effect on stubborn grass weeds such as ryegrass. The dosage of the active ingredient is 30-60 g/hm2. Pinoxaden is very suitable for spring cereals; to improve product safety, the safener fenoxafen is added.

1. Fast onset. 1 to 3 weeks after the drug, symptoms of phytotoxicity appear, and the meristem quickly stops growing and necroses rapidly;
