Product Description
Osthole is a natural coumarin that was first isolated from several medicinal plants, including C. monnieri and A. pubescens.1 It is reported to induce a nonspecific elevation of cAMP and cGMP levels through its ability to inhibit phosphodiesterases, which leads to a modulation of calcium channel signaling and vasorelaxant effects. Osthole exhibits immunomodulatory, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory properties, by regulating the expression of TNF-α, NF-κB, TGF-β, cyclooxygenases, leukotrienes, nitric oxide, ERK, and JNK. It also demonstrates antifibrotic effects in both hepatic and myocardial tissues and has been suggested to be a natural activator of defective delta F508-cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator chloride channel gating.
