Ethephon

The various functions of Ethephon

Ethephon can be readily absorbed by plants and slowly release Ethephon inside crops. It boosts plant peroxidase activity, weakens apical dominance, increases effective tillers, keeps plants short and sturdy and prevents lodging. It accelerates crop maturation, promotes even and early fruit ripening. It also defoliates cotton and deflowers tea bushes, serving as an efficient fruit ripening agent.

We provide multiple specifications of ethephon products, including 90%TC, 40%SL, 5%PA, to meet various plant growth regulation needs.

I.Ethephon promotes an increase in rubber tree yields.

Mechanism of Action

1. Extended drainage: Stabilizes the yellow body membrane of the ducts, reduces blockages, and can extend the drainage time by 2-4 hours.

2. Mobilization of nutrients: Activates the starch hydrolysis in the bark, increases the content of latex sugar, and enhances the regenerative ability.

3. Promotion of water absorption: Increases the lumen pressure of the ducts, enhances the flow rate and yield of the latex.

4. Dose-dependent: Low concentrations are safe for increasing production, while high concentrations can cause death of the bark and contraction of the ducts.

Purpose

1. Increase yield: Ethephon hormone can enhance the latex flow of rubber trees, thereby increasing the yield of rubber.

Utilizing technology

1. Application period: Apply the pesticide on the day of rubber harvesting after the rubber tree is harvested.

2. Application dosage: Use 5-10 times the concentration of 40% Ethephon agent aqueous solution, or use 1.2-1.6 grams per plant of 5% paste.

3. Application method: Apply the paste or liquid solution on the harvesting surface. 

Notes for Attention

1. Avoid using on young and weak trees: Young and weak trees should not be treated with Ethephon hormone as it will cause premature decline of the plants.

2. Control the dosage and frequency: Excessive dosage and frequency will damage the biological membranes of the tree, weakening the resistance of the rubber tree and causing poor growth and rubber skin cessation of rubber production.

3. Strengthen fertilizer and water supply: While using Ethephon hormone, it is necessary to enhance fertilizer and water supply to ensure the normal growth of the rubber tree.

2. Pepper

 When the fruit skin changes color, use 1000-4000 milligrams per liter Ethephon to soak the fruits, which can accelerate fruit ripening and color change. You can also spray 1000 milligrams per liter Ethephon in the field to promote ripening, but it is prone to cause leaf drop.

3. Watermelon

Before the fruit has fully grown but is not yet ripe, spray 300-500 milligrams per liter Ethephon on the fruits, which can make the fruits mature 5-7 days earlier. Since the watermelon fruits are large, spraying the solution on the fruits only usually does not cause harm to the plants.

3. Grape ripening

The experiment shows that for varieties such as giant bees, when the fruit begins to ripen, spray or dip 250-300 milligrams per kilogram Ethephon on the fruit clusters, which can accelerate ripening by 6-8 days, and it can be eaten on the fifth day after spraying.
