The efficacy and functions of tylosin tartrate

Mechanism of  action

Tylosin tartrate is an animal-specific antibacterial drug. It has a strong effect on mycoplasma and also has a good inhibitory effect on certain bacteria, such as Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and spirochetes, etc. It also includes Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus equinus, etc.

Tylosin tartrate mainly exerts sterilization effects by hindering the synthesis of bacterial proteins. This product is easily absorbed in the body and is excreted rapidly. There is no residue in the tissues. It has a very strong killing effect on pathogenic microorganisms such as Gram-positive bacteria, some Gram-negative bacteria, etc., and has a specific effect on mycoplasma. It has very high activity for chronic respiratory diseases (CRD), mixed infections of mycoplasma and Escherichia coli, and is the preferred drug for treating chronic respiratory diseases caused by mycoplasma in livestock. It can also promote the growth of pigs.

Efficacy and Effects

Tylosin tartrate is mainly used in clinical practice for treating and preventing various respiratory, intestinal, reproductive and motor system infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, mycoplasma, Staphylococcus aureus, pyogenic bacteria, Streptococcus pneumoniae, erysipelas bacillus, paratyphoid bacillus, Neisseria meningitidis, Pasteurella, spirochetes, coccidia, etc. as pathogenic agents.

For example: chronic respiratory disease in poultry, infectious rhinitis in chickens, air sac inflammation in poultry, infectious sinusitis, oviductitis, swine asthma disease, atrophic rhinitis, swine red diarrhea, gastroenteritis, swine erysipelas, mycoplasma arthritis, stubborn diarrhea in livestock and poultry, necrotic enteritis, endometritis, suppurative infection of external genitalia in livestock, goat pleuropneumonia, sow abortion, liver abscess in beef cattle, and foot rot in cattle and sheep, etc. It is also used for injecting and soaking eggs in breeding farms for purifying mycoplasma.

Regarding the effects of Tylosin tartrate, farmers inevitably encounter some animal illness problems during the process of raising livestock. For instance, this drug can be used to treat mycoplasma diseases such as those caused by mold in chickens or other animals, as well as chronic respiratory diseases in chickens, pneumonia, enteritis caused by some bacteria, and dysentery caused by spirochetes, etc. It has very good effects on swine mycoplasma diseases and prevention of swine mycoplasma diseases.

It also has a very good therapeutic effect on preventing and treating secondary mycoplasma infections in livestock and poultry when viral diseases break out. It is recognized worldwide as the preferred drug for treating and preventing mycoplasma infections in livestock and poultry, and its efficacy is superior to erythromycin, narisone, and tiamulin.

Important Notes

Although this veterinary drug is widely used, farmers using it should be aware of some precautions. For instance, it should not be used simultaneously with some feeds that are high in calcium. Additionally, when used to treat chronic respiratory diseases in chickens, the internal administration is far less effective than subcutaneous injection. It is recommended to use subcutaneous injection instead.
